A store worker will have to be tested for hepatitis C after a bizarre and frightening incident with a suspected shoplifter.
Police said Albar Man'Jarez walked into the Kmart off Carlisle Boulevard and stuffed some items under his shirt. When a loss prevention employee confronted Man'Jarez, the suspect grabbed a needle from his pocket and yelled out that he had hepatitis C, according to investigators.
The employee told officers the needle scratched him on the lip.
Police arrested Man'Jarez for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
