American physicians Dr. Sue and Jim Rodgers came to Bangalore, India in 1995 as volunteers. They fell in love with the people, culture and climate (similar to San Diego, CA) of Bangalore. They intended on staying in India for only 3 months. After their visit, they headed back to their private practice in Los Angeles, California.
Within a short time, they missed Bangalore. Well, not just Bangalore, but the 100's of patients and their families they had impacted in a short time. In California, with the health care situation getting unaffordable and prescription drug plans defunded, they asked themselves why are they here (California)?
They realized in India, their dreams of practicing medicine and helping their community live happier healthier lives was more realistic than in the US. They didn't have to deal with insurance companies and the bureaucracy that accompanied it. Prescription drugs in India were affordable by the average Indian citizen. Pharmaceutical companies didn't have a choke hold on their patients.
When they told their friends and family they're moving to India and raising their children there, everyone was shocked. They knew that the media doesn't paint a pretty picture of India. Their experience of India was something that they treasured and wanted to share it with everyone. Over the years, friends and family would come for a visit and take advantage of the affordable healthcare infrastructure. They would visit dentists, physician specialists and have lab work done. Pretty much get all their health checkups for a fraction of the price (Europeans have been coming to India for decades for healthcare). On their way home they would pack their luggage with prescription medicine that was out of reach in the US. Those same visitors would tell their family and friends about their experience and adventure. Some came to India but many didn't. Those who didn't visit, chose to call and place orders for their prescription medicine to have it shipped back to the states.
For 20 years, our non profit small clinic and pharmacy has shipped 100's of thousands prescription medicine packages to the US and Europe. All through word of mouth. We've been hush hush about it because the founders of the clinic and pharmacy are US board certified physicians and didn't want to compromise their identity. Today, our approach is pretty much the same, but instead of a notebook and pen, we're using the web and social media to promote our non profit clinic and pharmacy in Bangalore, India.
We're 100% behind our commitment to the quality prescription medicine that we ship to folks all around the world. Everything, outside of costs, goes to help fulfill our mission of helping the indigent in India. If you or anyone you know that would like to spend their summer, Christmas volunteering at our clinic, we would love to have you.
Thank you.
