Foreigner in India, Can Indians be foreigners in their own country?

Foreigner in India, Can Indians be foreigners in their own country?

This is probably one of the most fascinating subjects on what a foreigner in India is.  As you all know that India has a population of 1.2 billion people and is growing at a very fast rate.  If anyone has been in India over the past decade they can vouch how fast all major cities are growing.  People are moving from all parts of India to its tier 1, 2 and 3 cities.  The cities can't handle the influx of millions of people and their culture and language.  The local and state government has been grappling with these and other social issues.  Seeing this first hand in Bangalore, I'd say the local and state government is doing a good job.  This has happened in waves from British colonial times as well.  In recent times its been happening since the early 2000's.

India is a fragmented country with many languages and religious customs.  Although, India is predominantly Hindu country, but the Hindu gods are many, almost a million.  So, every corner of India will have different gods and deities that are worshiped and in different ways.  These customs move with their emigre.  Its been happening for millennia.

Those indigenous to a particular place, let's say Bangalore, they speak Kannada.  However, very close you have a population that speaks Tamil.  Its like having a border between France and Germany.  People integrate, however, the languages are maintained.  If languages are maintained culture is maintained in most cases.  So, at times you may have conflict between the two linguistic groups, however, the next generation adapts to the linguistic difference.  It could be forced due to linguistic policy in a state or it could be just a matter of survival to overcome discrimination.

With all that said, Indians can be foreigners in their own land.  Like a man from Iowa, living in Central Texas.  Well, the idioms of the Iowan native will be different from the local Central Texan.  However, if the Iowan wants to survive and take care of his family, he better adapt to Texas cadence and social behavior.  This is relatively mild when compared to linguistic differences of Kannada and Tamilians.  Why?  Because the difference between these groups go back atleast 450 to 1200 A.D.  That's a long time, it should be taken in perspective.  Still, the Iowan and Texan will have major differences politically, socially and culturally and that can't be ignored.

Well, how does this affect filling a prescription for Sovaldi (sofosbuvir) or Viekira Pak?  If you're a foreigner just be careful and don't get ripped off.  If you do come to India to buy your medicine, great.  Just make sure you take it to a lab to get it tested.  Need any help with this just email or call us.  We'll be happy to guide you.  Best of wishes for your Hep C treatment.
